BackgroundEdit

4501, after built, was designated to be a freight engine. So it hauled many freight trains in its career. 4501 survived until the end of steam for the Southern Railway, but was brought out of retirement for steam excursions. It was then retired again in 1998 and sent to the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
